Role Purpose: The purpose of this role is to assist the Store Manager to oversee the management and continuous development of the Protein, Bakery, Deli and Fruit & Veg Departments through the direction and motivation of the store teams, ensuring strong retail disciplines are in place, implementation of plans, and consistency of standards across the store. To assist the Store Manager in the achievement of financial targets set by the company. To provide direction, support and development to ensure the store objectives are met and continuously improved upon. Creating a positive working environment where the colleagues and Experts are focused on the strategic priorities. Promoting and driving a change management culture with the colleagues and be proactive in identifying and working towards the desired culture. Acting as a role model for other colleagues by demonstrating excellence in the delivery of company standards and a commitment to the company vision and values. Identifying colleagues who have the potential to move forward in the business by establishing succession planning through ongoing coaching, mentoring and development. Fostering and driving a team work ethic in all colleagues. Role Scope: Colleagues must be flexible to work in the capacity of Duty Manager in any Department as dictated by the needs of the business. Sales: Achieve sales targets for fresh departments for the store. On Shelf Availability as opposed to In Store. Ensure Promotional Participation is in line with Company average. Merchandising Standards / Store Set up & Finish. Implementation of Planograms and compliance. Availability and Stock Control Routines in Place. Push to Pull ordering practices in place. Demonstrate an ability to access & analyse GOLD/ProClarity data to maximise sales opportunities. Ensure effective communication of sales initiatives to the Store Management team & colleagues. Ensure promotion activity/Promo planning & execution & promotional compliance. Maintain targets in relation to commercial ordering / opportunistic. Ensure SEL Integrity & Maintenance. Out of Stock Maintenance. Ensure robust communication process is in place in especially in relation to handovers. Live at Five process – robust and sustainable – delivered consistently. HR Management: Adhere to all employment legislation and company policies. Flexibility Compliance – deliver to target. Effective Holiday Management. Pro active Attendance Management – below company average & compliance with RTWI. Supervision of Colleague Grooming Standards. Key Resource Replacement for Days Off / Holidays etc (Plan B. Development of Capability Plan for all Colleagues and experts under direct report. Attendance at Management Development Programme. Robust Communication Process for all Colleagues. Act as a role model on company standards and commitment. Manage Colleague appraisal and probation process. Ensure the health, safety and welfare at work for all colleagues working in their department. Cost Control: Docket control and management. Control Waste and Markdown in all Fresh Food Departments. Control Shrink in all Fresh Food Departments. Deliver Margins to the required standard in all Fresh Departments. Customer Service: Deliver Mystery Shopper results of 80% or above. Manage all customer complaints professionally and promptly. Ensure that Customer and colleague claims are reported promptly and comprehensively and ensure that liability cost is reduced year on year to meet the target. Ensure that colleague schedules are designed to ensure that there is sufficient cover to deliver expected levels of customer service for example: the service given on Sunday must be the same as the service given on Monday. Ensure that Food Safety and Hygiene standards are delivered to target. Food Safety: Ensure that the shelves are cleaned to the required standard and that there is full compliance to the daily cleaning schedule. Ensure that dates are checked as per the date checking schedule. Ensure that the store achieves over 80% in the operations and formal Food Safety audit. Ensure that stock is rotated to the required standard. Financial Management: Ensure that the Sales are meeting the target and drive opportunities to improve on targets. Ensure that waste and markdown targets are met (inc rotation and date check management. Ensure that shrink is controlled at store level and shrink awareness is in place. Ensure compliance and participation in promotional performance. Ensure that cross merchandising & food sampling are in place as per the policy. Ensure that the “Best in Fresh” standard is delivered at all times. Ensure effective control of the QTR to date shrink results. Maintain all required records. Personal Development: Work with the Store Manager and Assistant Manager to identify opportunities for personal growth and develop and deliver plans to meet these. Assist with company projects as and when required. Completion of the GROW Duty Manager Development Programme. Note: Additional duties may be assigned in line with the requirements of the business, including new technologies and processes. Qualifications: Educated to a high standard, (degree level, leaving certificate or equivalent. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a high level of numeracy and literacy. Minimum of 1 year management experience in grocery retail industry. Proven track record in achieving QA results. Essential Skills: A self-starter with strong drive, an appetite for hard work who demonstrates energy and an ambition to succeed. Ability to demonstrate strong leadership and team building skills.
