Senior Network Engineer. PE Global requires a Senior Network Engineer on a permanent basis for one of our clients based in North Dublin, the position is aimed at someone with over 10 years experience and would suit an experienced Engineer who has worked with an ISP or a large scale network carrier. Principal Responsibilities: Specializing on the Ethernet Platform. Assist with customer circuit test & turn-up. Provisioning circuits on Ethernet Switches using VPLS/MPLS/VLAN. Solid understanding of protected schemes L1/L2/L3. Involvement in network design and architecture. Documentation of the Layer 2 Network. Working closely with network equipment vendors on features, issues and technology roadmap. Monitoring capacity on the network to advise on upgrades. Placing orders for network equipment. Testing Trouble shooting / network and circuits. Mentor and train Junior Engineers. Take part in the ‘on call’ Rota. Provide support for Operations to assist in troubleshooting issues. Customer circuit trouble shooting with the aid of industry standard test equipment. Liaising with Networks NOC and Network Operations department in other countries. Report writing and creating / maintaining inventories. This includes weekly & monthly network performance reports / vendor performance reports. Liaise with internal departments & develop existing processes. Write work orders to facilitate Network changes and installations (including rack and equipment mounting, commissioning, fiber, Ethernet and related work. Non-routine duties will be allocated as deemed necessary. Travel may be required (<10%) Experience. Technical Degree/Diploma or equivalent. Previous experience working directly as a Network Engineer would be preferred. Deep understanding of Telecommunications/Networking with particular emphasis on IP and Ethernet. At least 2 years related work experience on a similar size Network. Experience with HP S7500E series or similar is a distinct advantage. Either Cisco or Juniper Accreditations, or equivalent training/experience to verify ability to configure network devices. Skills. A solid understanding SONET/SDH/DWDM/Ethernet/ IP technology is required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Self-motivated. Strong knowledge of the OSI model. CCNA/CCNP or equivalent a distinct advantage. Optical network installation and troubleshooting skills will be advantage. Excellent written and communication skills. Creative problem solving abilities. Ability to work in a team environment. Knowledge of network monitoring and other administrative tools. Knowledge of networking technologies and protocols. Strong communication and PC skills. Fiber , cabling installation experience. DC Power installation / operation experience. Strong reporting skills. A Full Clean Driving license.
