An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Technical Assistant/Assistant Estimator for a leading manufacturing company in Southwest Dublin. This is a position where you will be given the opportunity to make the job your own. Our Client is looking for someone with a creative flair, someone with good analytical skills and attention to detail who will work closely with the Technical Manager. You will be focused on the development of creative and innovative packaging solutions and designs for their customer base, working closely with the eternal sales and commercial teams. You will also cover for the Facility Estimator during holidays. A qualification or background in creative design, ideally CAD experience but this is NOT essential as the opportunity to do a course in this is an option. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Development & creation of folding carton packaging - concept to design. * Responsible for the delivery of high quality design drawings and samples in a timely manner. * Ensure compliance of quality standards in CAD drawings. * Redesign according to mark ups and specifications. * Value Engineering - take cost out of existing designs. * Translate and convert hand drawings and sketches to CAD systems. * Read, evaluate and interpret designs and drawings. * Create Samples utilising a dedicated Cutting Table. * Document & Update all drawings and samples. * New Product Development - Innovation and creativity. * Generation of optimized sheet layouts to maximise material usage. * Work with Technical, Commercial, Sales and Operations teams. * Estimation. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Excellent Organisational, planning and administrative abilities. * Excellent Numeracy, IT skills and problem solving skills. * Excellent communication skills (Written & Verbal. * Strong work ethic and attention to detail. * Willingness to work to new technologies and work situations. * Ability to develop practical solutions. * Good Colour Vision and be able to visualise designs in 3 D. * Ability to convert verbal and written information into 2 dimensional drawings. * Knowledge of IMPACT of similar package. * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Excellent Interpersonal skills. * Understanding of key aspects of CAD Design.
