Applications are invited for the following post: Grade VIII – Director of Registration, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. The contract is a full time, permanent position, subject to successful completion of a 6 month probationary period. The Position. The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) is the regulatory authority for nurses and midwives in Ireland. The role of NMBI is the protection of the public in its dealing with nurses and midwives and the integrity of the practice of nursing and midwifery through the promotion of high standards of professional education, training and practice and professional conduct among nurses and midwives. The Director of Registration is the senior manager responsible for the management of the Registration Department and is a member of the Senior Management Team within NMBI, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. All functions of the Registration Department must be in compliance with the relevant provisions of the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011, sections of which are still being implemented, and EU Directive 2005/36/EC (as amended. The Director of Registration will be required to manage the operations, report to the Board and the DOH on relevant KPIs and identify strategic opportunities for the enhancement and long-term sustainable effectiveness of the Registration Function, NMBI.
