Description

Direct Materials Buyer - Dublin. The Role: Manage an international supply base to meet business requirements in terms of delivery, quality and total cost. Work with site operations and Strategic Procurement to identify and develop long-term supplier relationships to meet current and future requirements. Lead RFQ, supplier selection and contract negotiation processes with suppliers, in line with business needs. Develop an active improvement program with suppliers to reduce cost and improve quality and service levels, in line with site expectations and requirements. Lead all site level commercial discussions with suppliers. Actively contribute to the development and structure of the supply base in a strategic manner. Role Objectives: • Purchase all direct materials to support Production operations, in line with business requirements. Maximise the use of 'Lean Supply' methods such as SWP & VMI programs to minimise inventory levels. • Monitor key metrics in the areas of supplier delivery, cost, quality, and service which clearly demonstrate performance against targets. Implement corrective actions where performance falls below agreed target levels. • Conduct Business Reviews with suppliers to ensure that performance is to target and expectations are clearly understood. Agree development/improvement programs where required. Drive resulting actions / corrective actions to conclusion. • Lead all significant issue resolution programs with suppliers, including other relevant functions in the resolution process (e.g. SQ, ME, CPE, etc.). Utilise structured problem solving techniques (e.g. A3) to ensure root causes are addressed and corrective actions are effective. • Identify supplier risk situations and work with site functions and Strategic Procurement to develop and implement risk mitigations strategies, up to and including alternate sources. • Liaise with Strategic Procurement in relation to the identification and development of new suppliers. In conjunction with Strategic Procurement, implement alternative procurement sources to minimize lead-times/inventory levels, improve service levels, reduce costs and migrate toward strategic sources. • Lead and Project Manage RFQ and Supplier Selection activities to ensure that any new suppliers are production-ready in line with business requirements, ensuring no interruption to operations. Lead the site cross-functional process for the evaluation and selection of new suppliers. • Project manage major part transfer programs; from NPD to site manufacturing; from one supplier to another, from one manufacturing entity to another, or out-source/in-source activities. • Initiate Contract Agreements where required to protect company's interests. Prepare for negotiations and work closely with Strategic Procurement to ensure that site concerns are covered in negotiated Supply Agreements. • Through effective negotiation and market analysis ensure that the company only pays the lowest total cost for purchased direct materials. Contribute to the site productivity program through the identification and implementation of cost reduction ideas on an annual basis. • In conjunction with the Commodity Team, for responsible suppliers/commodities, work with Commodity Manager team to identify pooling opportunities, supplier development opportunities and new supplier candidates to advance the performance and optimisation of the supply base. Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required. • Strong experience in Procurement best practices and working within a multi-national environment. • Degree Level qualified. APICS, IIPMM or equivalent purchasing qualification is preferred (or working towards accreditation/similar. • Experience of implementing commodity strategies and working with advanced Procurement Tools & Processes. Ability to lead and project manage internal projects to deliver new suppliers to meet site direct materials requirements. • Experience of working within cross-functional teams. Ability to be site representative for direct materials projects and to lead sourcing strategies and decisions through to implementation. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a broad range of internal customers, with a strong customer orientation. • Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline with at least 5 years' experience in supply chain/purchasing, preferably within a manufacturing environment, with core direct materials experience. • Experience of operating within a commodity management environment with the ability to influence at senior level within a multi-national procurement function. • Procurement Professional expertise and RFQ and supplier selection standard practices. • Supplier evaluation and approval methods and contract review and negotiation. • Supplier Quality Management System requirements. • Lean Supply methods and practices. • Supplier management and development methodologies. • Microsoft office, Purchasing IT Tools and methods. • Ideally SAP experience. • Project Management experience.
