Leading International Logistics provider now seek to hire a Trade Compliance Manager. This is a new function within the organization and is one of the critical path initiatives being pursued to take the company forward nationally with its Client base that operate globally. The purpose of the role is to change how the company are perceived by the market (Client’s and internal Client’s) through the creation of a trade compliance capability. As the subject matter expert, you will have extensive global experience with regard to export control, supply chain security, customs and a number of related contractual issues, such as Incoterms. The individual has to be a senior professional with extensive experience of global trade compliance and what that legislation demands from Client’s supply chains; and be able to speak the same language as the Client’s from their perspective for their trade compliance to enable the Client to see that the company can fulfil this critical area of activity for them. STRATEGIC MAIN DUTIES. Create, establish and implement Trade Compliance. Ensure the offering of supply chain security, customs, export control, Incoterms, within the supply chain, further ensuring that global knowledge of these requirements is part of this implementation. Change the message to market, internally and externally, by adding a unique offering. Meet Client global expectations using experience to convince, educate and support global Client’s to recognize the company as a provider that can meet their expectations worldwide using solutions adapted to their requirements in this highly technical area, dealing across law and practice. Create meaningful partnerships where the unique offering is recognized by providers of complementary trade compliance services, (Professional Bodies, TC system providers. Add value to the existing offering i.e. longer client contract term, more revenue and/or increased transactional premium from the traditional services, maintain the confidentiality of the unique offering through use of NDA’s, etc., with Client’s to the extent possible, ensure that advice outside of the normal terms is controlled by contract terms in partnership with legal, and generate direct revenue for the account owner where possible. Identify capability to perform trade compliance activities globally and create appropriate data sets, such that IRE Client’s asking for help across the globe can be supported. Maintain awareness, to the extent possible, of changing regulations in the IRE/EU and globally across all aspects of trade compliance, etc., so that Client’s may be advised appropriately and the company may be seen as “knowledgeable and current”, Drive trade compliance as a non-silo’d activity. TACTICAL MAIN DUTIES: Be a unique resource to provide direction in this critical path offering. Create, in a timely manner, a Trade Compliance structure, hiring team members and identifying people within the organization that should report directly and indirectly as the function develops. Manage those people and relationships. Create a trade compliance infrastructure; tender materials, webinar, web-site, training materials, procedures, etc. Convince internal stakeholders and teams of the value to their Clients (and themselves) and partner with them on Client engagements. Be a focal point for Trade Compliance. Use Trade Compliance to “pull through” more traditional freight and distribution business. Provide management with advice, information, benchmarking of Industry expectations surrounding trade compliance. Offer support on addressing gaps that might exist and the manner in which auditing should be carried out and protected under legal privilege. Provide support for teams, such as advice to Legal on contractual terms. Attend and present at related events. Minimum Requirements: At least 5 years customer relationship experience within a similar role with proven business development & relationship management skills within a similar matrix centricorganisation. Proven experience in anticipating and championing innovation, value added services and supply chain transformation. Strategic capability with a history of operational experience in various Industry roles. Ability to interact at all levels both within the company and with Client’s. Degree or equivalent professional qualifications is desirable. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to travel when required. A very good understanding of the freight forwarding business environment. Terms: Full time permanent. Package: €Neg + Bonus + Benefits.
