The Garda Síochána’s mission is to deliver professional policing and security service with trust, confidence and support of the people it serves. With changing demands and expectations of citizens, and emerging security and policing challenges, a programme to professionalise, modernise and reform the organisation was launched in 2016. Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner, Strategy and Governance, the Executive Director Chief Data Officer will identify and lead the strategic data priorities of the organisation. S/he will also have responsibility for improving the quality of and managing the protection of sensitive data and information. The successful candidate will have: • significant experience in a major services organisation, with large-scale data management and oversight experience; • significant senior management experience, including experience in change or transformation leadership, and project management; • knowledge of regulatory requirements, best practice data management and governance practices, and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches; • an appropriate qualification in Computer Science, MIS, or Information Management.
